They say that you should keep nice crackers on hand (eg, not Goldfish!), especially during the holiday season, for when you find yourself unexpectedly entertaining. But we have more fun (and more affordable!) idea that also lets you customize the flavor of your crackers depending on what else you have on hand: Shortcut Wonton Crackers!

Keep wonton wrappers in your fridge and with nothing else more than oil and whatever seasonings you have on hand, you can have customized crackers in all of 10 minutes. Even fewer for you if you have the kids make these!

Shortcut Wonton Crackers

  • Author: Stacie and Meghan

Ingredients

Scale

(every wonton wrapper makes 2 crackers)

1 1/2 teaspoons oil of choice for every dozen wrappers (olive, sesame & grapeseed all work well)
1 teaspoon topping(s) of choice for every dozen wrappers (we love toasted sesame seeds, Everything Bagel seasoning, Za’atar, and fennel seeds combined with grated Parmesan cheese, but go wild!)
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. Brush the first wonton wrapper with oil on both sides. Then stack a second wonton on top and brush the top with oil. Stack a third on top of that and continue until you coat as many as you want with oil. Using a knife, pizza cutter, or kitchen shears, cut the wontons into whatever shape you like (down the middle works for us).
  2. Lay pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with toppings. Lay another piece of parchment paper on top of the wontons and press down to get the spices to stick to the wrappers as well as possible. Remove the top piece of parchment and discard. Sprinkle wrappers with salt and pepper. Bake until golden brown, about 8 minutes.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow crackers to cool completely before removing them from the sheet and serving
