Description

As much as we love classic Chex Mix, buying several different types of cereal and specific crackers doesn’t always work for on-the-fly entertaining. Our secret? Keep one box of Chex on hand at all times and throw in whatever other crackers, pretzels, and bite-sized snacks you have on hand. The possibilities are endless with our fail-proof formula.

Ingredients

Scale

8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon seasoned salt, such as Lawry’s or Jacobsen’s Ramen Seasoning

5 cups Chex cereal, Rice or Corn Chex work best

3 cups bite-sized pretzels

3 cups mix-ins of your choice, such as cereal, bagel chips, crisp peas or crisp cheese

1 cup toasted nuts, such as peanut or cashews

Instructions

  1. Arrange 2 racks to divide the oven into thirds and heat to 250°F. Line 2 rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats; set aside. Melt the butter in a medium, microwave-safe bowl. (Alternatively, melt in a small saucepan on the stovetop over low heat.) Add the Worcestershire sauce and seasoned salt and stir well to combine.
  2. In a very large mixing bowl, combine the Chex, pretzels, your mix-ins of choice, and nuts. Gently toss to combine.
  3. Pour half of the butter mixture over the snack mix and gently toss some more to coat. Pour in the remaining butter mixture and keep tossing until all of the pieces are coated in butter.
  4. Spread the snack mix into an even layer on the prepped baking sheets. Bake, stirring every 15 minutes, until lightly browned and crisp, about 45 minutes in total. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Cool completely before storing. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three weeks.
