Description

Crispy, sweet, and salty: this recipe from Stacie’s cookbook, Make It Easy, has it all — plus NO MESS! We say that this serves four, especially given that we call for thick-cut bacon, but if your people will want more than two strips of bacon each, make more. And don’t stress too much about measurements: you honestly don’t need to bother with a measuring spoon.

Ingredients

Scale

8 pieces thick-cut bacon

6 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and, if you have one, place a rack on top. Don’t worry if you don’t have a rack — this will still work.
  2. Lay the bacon on the prepared baking sheet and use a spoon or pastry brush to slather both sides in the syrup. This should use about two thirds (4 tablespoons) of the total syrup called for.
  3. Place the bacon in the oven and cook until you see that it’s beginning to crisp around the edges, about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, leaving the heat on, and carefully flip the bacon. Baste one more time with the remaining syrups and return to the oven to cook for another 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how crispy you like your bacon.
  4. Remove from the oven and allow the bacon to rest for 10 minutes; in this time, the bacon will crisp further. Halfway through the rest time, transfer the bacon to a plate to prevent it from sticking to the cooking surface. Serve!
