Description

We’ve done it: These are the perfect chewy, fudgy brownies recipe that you can whip up in one bowl with pantry ingredients. You’re welcome.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled

¼ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

¾ cup granulated sugar

¾ cup light brown sugar

¼ teaspoon salt

¾ cup all-purpose flour

⅔ cup Dutch process cocoa powder

¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Flaky sea salt, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8×8 baking pan (preferably glass) with parchment; set aside. Add the melted and cooled butter, oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon room temperature water to a large mixing bowl and whisk until smooth.
  2. Add both sugars and the salt to the bowl and, using a silicone spatula, mix to combine well, being sure to get rid of most of the lumps from the brown sugar.
  3. Add the flour and cocoa powder and keep mixing until smooth. Spread the batter in the prepared pan, sprinkle the top with chocolate chips and/or a little flaky sea salt, if using, and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 30 to 35 minutes.

Notes

Remember! If the point is chewy and fudgy (and it is!), it’s better to undercook than overcook brownies. Every oven is different, so start testing doneness around 25 minutes into baking.
