Description

We think the best version of this Bisquick cake is flavored with lemon zest and topped with lemon frosting, but you can certainly leave the zest out and use classic buttercream or chocolate frosting. However you go about it, this recipe is a thing of weeknight baking beauty for anytime you want your cake and don’t want to work hard for it too.

Ingredients

Scale

Butter or cooking spray, for greasing the pan

2 cups Original Bisquick mix

1 cup sugar

2/3 cups milk

1 eggs

1 teaspoons vanilla extract

Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Frosting of choice, about 2 cups or one 16-ounce tub

Instructions

1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square pan with butter or cooking spray. In medium bowl, stir together Bisquick mix, sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.

2. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

3. Remove cake from oven and allow to cool before frosting and serving.
